About Me

My name is Fabienne Waelli. I am a physician, FMH specialist in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, and a training psychoanalyst for children, adolescents, and adults with the SSPsa/IPA.
I have been working in private practice since 2021. I see infants and their parents who experience difficulties in establishing a bond due to anxiety or depression arising during the perinatal period and who feel lost in their new role.
I also see young children, children, and adolescents to conduct a thorough assessment of their needs and to support parents who have questions about their child’s development and needs.
I studied medicine at UNIL (Lausanne). I first specialized in general internal medicine for four years, then in old age psychiatry, before specializing in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG).

As chief resident of the day hospital unit of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Service (SPEA) at the University Hospitals of Geneva (HUG), I led a multidisciplinary team where we cared for young children (ages 2–5) experiencing developmental difficulties in the context of family vulnerability.
I developed a strong interest in the early parent-infant relationship, and in 2016 we created the Accordages unit, an innovative care program welcoming infants with their parents to support the establishment of the parent-infant bond. We conducted both quantitative and qualitative research, which demonstrated the benefits of this care model: the baby’s development is preserved, the parents’ mental health improves, and the quality of the parent-infant relationship increases. I wrote my doctoral thesis based on this study.
